Spirulina and Rheumatism

Several studies have confirmed the immunostimulating role of microalgae.

Spirulina increases the production of cytokines according to an American study on human blood samples. Also known as immunization factors, cytokines are proteins produced naturally by the immune system. The increases in cytokines suggest that spirulina helps protect the body against infections and potentially harmful microorganisms.

Numerous studies indicate that spirulina is an effective immunomodulator. Spirulina positively regulates immune system function by increasing the number and/or activity of specialized immune cells. The melanins contained in spirulina also have an action on immunity.
